Winter Tri-tips

January 2026

Hey Limitless Athletes,

The snow is coming down here in Upstate New York, and as I look out at this snow-globe winter wonderland, I am reminded of just how hard it can be for athletes to stay motivated this time of year. So, here are three simple, high-impact strategies to help you keep the good vibes flowing all winter long!

  1. Reframe Winter as a Competitive Advantage

Cold-weather consistency is a superpower. When you recognize that many athletes ease off during the winter, your commitment suddenly feels like an edge. Showing up in months like January and February are a flex - celebrate those mental wins just as much as the physical ones! And reinforce that edge by implementing positive self-talk: “I am the kind of athlete who trains when others choose to idle their engines.”

  1. Embrace the Indoors: It’s Purposeful, Not Punishing!

Indoor training only feels like punishment when it lacks intention. Coach Leah recommends giving each session a clear mission - form work, cadence focus, technique refinement. We tend to skip the fine-tuning on form when volume ramps up, but winter is the perfect time to build good habits that will set you up for success later in the year. And remember: indoor work is incredibly efficient. No coasting, no traffic stops, no weather variables - just focused progress!

  1. Lean into Virtual Community

Winter feels a lot warmer when you’re not training alone. The pain cave can get lonely after months of outdoor meetups and races, so look for virtual training buddies or community events to reignite your spark and purpose.

Like the Love Beyond Limits Ride with LRC - Join Coach Leah this Valentine’s Day for a one-hour virtual ride filled with feel-good Valentine's energy. Sweat and Smiles guaranteed! (Invite and Details Below - Virtual Meetup Link Here: https://calendar.app.google/AynvV8aqd5d53e8SA)

Winter builds the athletes who shine brightest in summer. Stay steady, stay kind to yourself, tap into your community, and keep moving forward - Your future self is already grateful!
